Water Management as a Cost Savings Opportunity

Ken Holiday

In late 2013 we held a webinar discussing the importance of focusing on water as a cost savings opportunity. Given the recent restrictions on water use in California, we wanted to share Nick Barhorst’s summary of the webinar below as it is still very relevant to companies needing to understand and manage their water consumption.

Our guest for the webinar was Kevin Merritt, Director of Facilities, Midwest Division at Circle K. Kevin shared what the company has done to decrease its water usage and why they chose to use Ecova’s Water Outlier Investigation service. We also explored why taking action on water consumption is important and some “low hanging fruit” options when considering a water management plan.

During the webinar, I went into detail on what an outlier site is and how to identify those sites within a large portfolio. I also shared Ecova’s approach for bringing outlier sites back into the norm using our Water Outlier Investigation service, which uses site level assessments to find causes of high use, and then determines the corrective action that should be taken to reduce usage.

Water costs are continuing to rise, and as a result, companies are seeing increased expenses associated with water. I encourage you to take 30 minutes out of your day to watch this important water management webinar which can be viewed below.
